SU540
This concise two week programme aims to bridge the gap between the DJ and studio and showcases how learning the basic art of DJing can then be expanded to customise and rework your favourite tracks.
Initially covering the essentials of beat mixing and creative DJ performance, this cutting edge course progresses into the world of remixing, re-editing and reworking of music. Create remixes and acapella ‘mash-ups’ on the decks, splice up songs and rework them in Ableton Live before sequencing your own beats and grooves on the Akai MPC and in Reason 4.
All the essential tricks and tips a DJ/Remixer needs to make their performance fresh, unique and exciting are covered with spotlights on some of the biggest names in clubland.
The course is taught by a DJ, remixer, producer and label owner with nearly 20 years of professional experience and knowledge to share. Classes will be held every weekday at our brand new ‘South Campus’ studio complex in the well placed and fashionable area of Clapham Common in South London.
This course is two weeks long, and it runs only in July and August.
If you miss this chance you can still combine any number of short courses at any time of the year or take the full Music Production 101 module in September to get the same knowledge (and more) but the cost and time format will be different.
Technics turntables, Pioneer CDJs, Allen & Heath DJ mixers, Propellerhead Reason and Ableton Live software packages, Akai APC and MPC units, Native Instruments ‘Maschine’ a Korg ‘Kaoss’ Pad effects unit and more.
